If you re looking for a great muskie rod at a moderate price i highly recommend the scott tidal muskie pike special. While the tidal falls short of the performance of the meridian that s to be expected from a mid priced rod series. I find that if i wax the ferrules once and then tape with every use it s all good. Your 8wt mangrove is a softer rod than the tidal and the aetos is lighter and a faster rod but not quite the lifting power as the other 2.

First it was the s4s then the radian now the scott tidal is making a very strong statement in our mind at grabbing the best salt rod for the money category.

The tidal is not overly heavy but not nearly as light in hand as the meridian.
