A big benefit is that glossy and satin paper withstand handling better than other types of inkjet paper. Semi gloss has the advantage of being appropriate for posters that are intended either for framing behind glass perspex or placed on a wall in a space where you prefer less reflectivity. If your poster is exploding with color or movement gloss is the way to go. The semi gloss category falls in between a high gloss finish and a zero gloss finish matte.

Gloss seems to also add definition to the borders of an image so images appear brighter and clearer. Choose a more durable wide format poster paper roll if you plan to sell decorative photo or at prints that will be viewed up close for a number of years. The less reflective semi gloss is perfect for places with intense lighting.

Glossy finish helps colors pop against one another and creates the illusion of depth in images that look a little flat. Ultrapro satin and ultrapro gloss have the look and feel like a photo lab print. For this reason use a bit more care when rolling poster prints made on these papers. The high gloss option will produce the highest shine possible.
